If you have ever wanted to add a drippy effect to a text in Cricut design space, then this easy tutorial is for you. I am going to show you how to do just that. If you're not in the mood to read, just scroll down to the end of this blog and watch the video tutorial instead.
I have also written another tutorial if you want to add this drip effect to shapes which you can read here.

How to add a drip effect to Texts in Cricut Design Space

Open a drip SVG file in Cricut design space. If you don’t have one, you can grab one from my shop here which comes in a bundle.

In Design space start typing words. In this tutorial I'm using the word ‘Love’ as an example in a milkshake font.
Picture
Once that’s done, ungroup the word to separate the letters. Start moving the letters to the left so they all overlap. Then you can align them to the 'bottom'. You can skip this step if the word will look funky. Instead, you can align the letters to 'center Horizontally'.
*You can find the Align option in the Top panel in Design Space.

When you're happy with your word, go ahead and select all then Weld.
Picture
Align the word with the drip and make sure both ends are aligned perfectly. Or at least close to perfect. Take your time to play around.
Next, hit Slice.

I went ahead and changed the color of the drip for better contrast.

Separate the bits that resulted from the slicing action and delete the bits that you won't be needing. Because our word was sliced as a result of this process, we need to weld it back into one piece. So go ahead and align the two pieces and weld them together.
*Alternatively, to avoid this step, just make a duplicate of the word before slicing, so you can just go ahead and delete the sliced word and use the duplicated word (which is whole) instead.

Now for the drippy bit, hit Contour and select Hide All Contours except the biggest bit which will be our drip.

Now all you have to do is align the word with the drip. To do this, select both and go to Align in the Top Panel then choose Center Horizontally.

That’s it! Now you can go ahead and cut each piece separately and create a gorgeous project!

Hope you enjoyed and learned something new from this tutorial!
